Laura Romano, an artist who lives and works in Savona, is expressed preferably ceramic works. His female figures are crude monochrome or a hymn to life and motherhood. The sculptural elements, matte or gloss of the cooking fire, they are turgid material consistency and melancholy and pain of the soul, enlightened by the art, become starting points for possible regeneration. Therefore represent a real and tangible in the strength of character of the artist that processes events and transforms them into non-stop, like the sea he loves represent. In the cavity of twisted trunks, logs and eroded consumer creates cribs using the grooves in the caves and paths created by erosion to place towns and characters, often tiny, and with painstaking patience and sensitivity were modeled paintings and cooked to a crystalline one .
Ms. Romano, when he began his artistic adventure?
"I started very young, drawing with pencils and colors. Because of my vocation as a teacher, after graduating the artistic, I have successfully opened a school for children set to play and artistic activities. Calling in Schools Albissola Marina to do the course of modeling, I have thorough knowledge of technical ceramics. In 1992 the parish of St. Joseph asked me to organize courses that serve to aggregate their families. From this demand has resulted in a small laboratory, which has now expanded into a real studio where I can tell my students, and students my passion for art. In my heart there is more heart than technique, let a good time and we can download anxieties and tensions.
I held classes for 14 years and ceramic all'AISM teach inmates in a project that is renewed annually. I've been called by some municipalities in the area to teach ceramics and two years, the Provincial Assessor Livio Bracco has involved me and some of my students in organizing a short course Christmas to introduce children to the ceramic technique: our children students have shaped objects that were then painted them and we cooked and then delivered to small and Cristalina authors on December 20 last year. "
What issues are the source of his inspiration?
"My works are all born with the desire to express myself, when I create the earth by instinct. They are attracted to the female figure which processes preferably in the land of raw pure figurative level, my works are essentially of the sculptures in the round of bodies or faces and emotions should dictate. I prefer to communicate feelings rather than with the essence with color, so much so that tends to prefer to leave the sculpture often pure or monochromatic shades of the moon. The themes are love portray motherhood, mother moon, topics which contain a vein of melancholy that feel inside. The paintings use a lot of color as the theme of the sea in which I also love to experiment: prepare the ceramic support and to give the effect of waves, use multicolored glitter and other materials to convey the sense of the waves. "
What materials and techniques which prefer to use?
"Each sculpture is treated in different ways, some of them appear in the wood is actually ceramic treated according to a particular technique I invented. The cooking is traditional, using materials that are semi-refractory clay, glazes. In painting, the color becomes important as artistic expression, depicting human figures in a surreal space, bounded and cool, poised in a moment the other time. "
He has exhibited his works in solo and group exhibitions?
